40th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy, its Associated Meetings Held

The 40^th Senior Officials Meeting on Energy (SOME) and Associated Meetings was chaired by Cambodia on 28 June through videoconferencing. The Head of the Myanmar Energy Delegation to ASEAN, Director-General of the Department of Oil and Gas Management U Win Maw and officials attended the meeting.

At the meeting,

• Issues related to cooperation among ASEAN member countries to use clean energy in encouraging energy development, reduce carbon emissions, save energy and have energy security, increase renewable energy consumption and harmonize energy consumption standards were discussed.
• In addition to energy sub-sector, the meeting will also discuss future plans of the ASEAN Network of Policy Makers for Energy and ASEAN Centre for Energy.

The 40^th ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Energy and Associated Meetings will be held from 28 June to 1 July.  Senior energy officials from ASEAN member countries; ASEAN dialogue partners: Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Russia, and the United States and heads of delegations attended the meeting.
