Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win Meets Members of Township Administration Body and Township-level Departmental Officials

The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win met members of Township Administration Body and township level departmental officials at the Shwe Ann Taung hall of Ann town on 15 June. He stressed the following points in the meeting:

  • Ann is the gateway between central parts of the country and Rakhine State. It is also a hub leading to Taungup, Kyaukphyu, Sittway and Minbu.

  • Being an important area, local authorities need to cooperate with residents to avoid all illegal activities and inappropriate administrative measures with the nationalistic spirit, political and security essence.
  • At the invitation of the Prime Minister, six ethnic armed organizations have currently held talks about peace issues with the Prime Minister and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee separately. More organizations will come to hold talks.
  • Instead of the demand by taking up arms, the demand at the roundtable of peace and at the Hluttaw by people’s representatives are the correct means of making demands which are also desired by the people.
  • Peace and stability of the region are important to hold a free and fair general election. If not, it is impossible to hold a free and fair election.
  • Measures must be taken to send back temporarily displaced persons as a consequence of past armed conflicts to their original places and to provide them with proper jobs in the time of peace and stability like now.
  • As Ann town is a hub of road transport, it is necessary to create business jobs that are compatible with geographical location of Ann.
  • Health and education sectors have been prioritized during the tenure of assumption of duties by the SAC.
  • As Ann Township has completed only 64.5 percent of COVID-19 vaccination of children aged 5-12, further efforts must be continued to have full percentage.
  • As regards the education sector, it is found out that almost all the teachers are shouldering their duties in the township.
  • A greater effort is needed to achieve a high matriculation pass rate. An ambition must be set for every school-age child to complete at least KG+9.

It is reported that SAC members Daw Aye Nu Sein and U Shwe Kyein, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and officials attended the meeting.
