NUG and PDF Terrorists Committed Arson Attacks on Schools and Planted Mines at the Junctions in Some Townships

Under the directive of NUG, the so-called PDF terrorists committed arson attacks to burn down the school buildings as well as textbooks and school books in some townships of Sagaing and Ayeyawady regions on 27 December. It is reported that:

· Terrorists spread gasoline on the two-storey school building, which is built with zinc roofing, brick partition and brick flooring, in the Basic Education High School (Branch) of the Taungphila ward located in KalayTownship, however, no damage was reported.

· The text books and school books stored in the Basic Education Middle School (Branch) located in Thaephyu village of Mawlamyinekyun Township were set fire and destroyed by terrorists.

· Terrorists threw Molotov cocktails at the Basic Education High School (Branch) located in Myanandar ward of Bamauk, but no damage was reported.

· In Loikaw township of Kayah State, PDF terrorists planted three homemade mines at the junction of the Pyidaungsu Road and GTC Road, near the Nambawan (A) ward administration office and three homemade mines at the junction of the Bobwa Yeiktha Road and GTC Road. Mines were connected with a battery used in motorcycle, a radio control box, 2 wires of 50 feet-long and the explosions targeted on local people and students to have casualties. Security forces found those mines and deactivated them.

The so-called PDF terrorists affiliated with NUG are intensifying acts of terrorism without any consideration. They have varieties of intentions such as destroying the rights to education of children who are the future of the State, frightening and injuring local people as well as jeopardizing the State government mechanism.

It is reported that security forces are working to search and arrest the terrorists   who conducted arson attacks on schools as well as take effective legal proceedings against the perpetrators under the law.
