Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Delivers an Address at the Meeting 1/2022 of the Central Committee on Copyright

 

The meeting 1/2022 of the Central Committee on Copyright was held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on 3 June. The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Central Committee on Copyright, attended the meeting and delivered an address as follows:

  • The government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has enacted the Trademark Copyright Law, the Industrial Design Copyright Law, the Invention Copyright Law and the Literary and Artistic Copyright Law on 30 January 2019.

  • Protection of copyrights will support national economic development in implementing the State’s economic objectives.

  • Myanmar is a member of World Trade Organization and World Intellectual Property Organization. So, it must observe all the trade agreements in connection with the copyright issue. As it is also an ASEAN member state, the country must partake in the copyright agreements among the member states.

  • The Copyright system of Myanmar must conform to the international standards and comply with the current political, economic and educational conditions of the country.

  • Exercising copyright laws will contribute to national economy, protection of copyright for entrepreneurs, foreign investment, human resources, employment, advancing technological handovers and productivity.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister Dr Pwint Hsan, deputy ministers, the permanent secretary, directors general and officials.
