The third coordination meeting of working committee was held to implement the e-ID system, which is one of the foundations for e-Government system, on 2 June at the meeting hall of Ministry of Immigration and Population.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of e-ID System Working Committee, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Khin Yi, the secretary of the Committee, Deputy Minister U Htay Hlaing, committee members and officials. Some committee members joined the meeting via video conferencing.
Union Minister U Khin Yi said that:
- As the e-ID system, which is one of the foundations for e-Government system, it is needed to implement it necessarily for the country. Therefore, the incumbent government has made a decision to implement it during its tenure.
- There are limitations to implement it for the incumbent government during its tenure amidst external and internal disruptions and blocks.
- In implementing e-ID system, two phases such as Unique ID and national ID will be carried out.
- Attendees are urged to raise suggestions and discussions on e-ID system following an overview on limitations such as time limit, international disruption and technical expertise as e-ID system is needed to implement it necessarily for the country.
The Deputy Minister, a member of e-ID system working committee, reported on System Architecture Design drawn for implementation of the system and necessary TOR for hiring external technical advisors. Again, other committee members also reported on relevant sector for e-ID system. In response to the reports, the Union Minister U Khin Yi coordinated the works and fulfilled the needs, it is reported.
