Myanmar-Bangladesh Holds Region Commander Level Border Coordination Meeting

The meeting of the region commander level border coordination between Myanmar and Bangladesh border guards was held at the meeting hall of the District General Administration Office in Maungtaw township of Rakhine state on 1 June and focused on the following points -  

• The matters related to the eradication of the construction sites near Myanmar-Bangladesh border points,
• The matters related to exchange of news regarding activities of terrorists and incidents of shooting in the border areas,
• Finding out information and news as well as prevention of the trans-border crimes committed after crossing the Net river along the Myanmar-Bangladesh border lines,
• Prevention of illegal entry into Myanmar from Bangladesh by crossing border fencing, joint patrols of border guards of two countries,
• The matters related to increasing the exchange of information on the prevention of drugs, the establishment of the bilateral relations office (Maungtaw-Teknaf).

The event was attended by the Myanmar delegation led by No. 1 Border Guard Command, Police Brig-Gen Htet Lwin and the Bangladeshi delegation led by Brig-Gen Najm-Us-Sakib, commander of the local area HQs (Cox Bazar) of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).

• During the meeting of the region commander level border coordination between Myanmar and Bangladesh border guards, the matters related to exchange of news regarding activities of terrorists in border areas, prevention of illegal entry into Myanmar and prevention of drugs were discussed.
