The Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team onboard provided healthcare services to local people in Cocokyun township and coastal areas of Tanintharyi region from 4 to 31 May. On the return to Thilawa No. 3 Naval Pier in Yangon on 1 June, they were warmly welcome by Senior Officers, officers, other ranks and family members of military personnel of the navy.
The Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team onboard provided healthcare services to local people living in the areas around Cocokyun township, coastal areas of Tanintharyi region such as Kyunsu, Sakhanthit, Wa Kyun, Pyinsabu Kyun, Pale Kyun, War Kyun, Zardet Kyee Kyun and Jalan Kyun and Apaw Seik village of Kalegauk Island of Ye township. The 8,045 local patients in total including 2,544 patients who need medical treatments, 865 patients who need surgical operations, 824 patients with obstetric/gynecologic diseases, 822 patients with pediatric diseases, 763 orthopedic diseases, 685 patients with ENT related diseases, 803 patients with eye diseases and 739 patients with dental and oral diseases were given medical treatment. The medics conducted operations on 122 patients who need to perform eye surgery and 250 patients who need to perform general surgery onboard.
Moreover, diagnoses and treatments were also provided to 582 patients who need to take X-ray scans, 563 ultrasound scanning patients, 1,599 patients who need to receive laboratory tests, 754 cardiologic patients undergoing ECG procedures, and 33 patients who need to receive computerized pathology tests and four pregnant women were able to give birth babies successfully onboard by caesarean section.
On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander of Central Naval Command Brig-Gen Htein Win gave honorary gifts to the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team. The Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team onboard have been providing healthcare services to local people in coastal areas since 2016. It is reported that the present mission is the 13th time and 112,500 patients were given medical treatment and 16 pregnant women were able to deliver babies successfully onboard by caesarean section.
