Statement Released on Bombing of Meeting Hall of Two-Storey Education Office by PDF Terrorists in Nawnghkio Township

 

On 31 May, school heads and teachers of the Basic Education Schools in the township led by Daw Aye Thin, township education officer organized a coordination meeting on smooth education for 2022-2023 academic year at the meeting hall of two-storey education office in Nawngkio Township of Shan State (North). After the meeting, while they were distributing teaching aids and issuing salaries to education staff, PDF terrorists brutally made bomb blasts on a two-storey meeting hall leaving three heads of Basic Education Primary Schools got serious injuries of bomb fragments at his/her lower waists, and then four school heads, teacher as well as an assistant township education officer, and a civil servant got non-serious injuries. Although the injured persons had been taken to the military hospital of Pyin Oo Lwin for necessary treatments, a headmistress died of her serious injuries.

Regarding such disturbances, on 31 May:

  • The Young Men's Buddhist Association (Central), the Interfaith Friendship and Solidarity Group (Central), the Myanmar Comedians Association (Central) and Myanmar Music Association (Central) have issued statements strongly condemning the terrorist actions.
  • Myanmar Press Council declare and oppose any organization that disrupts safe and secure education and destroys the lives of innocent people as education is a key foundation for the development of the Nation.

The NUG and its affiliates PDF terrorists are making disturbances on the education sector such as creating threats on, abductions, assassinations of students and parents, arson and bombing attacks on education offices, teaching aids and textbooks, stationaries by using various ways aiming to support them, lose the chances of youths for learning and become uneducated youths.

  • Three heads of primary schools got serious injuries and four school heads, teacher including an assistant township education officer, and a civil servant got non-serious injuries due to the bomb blasts of PDF terrorists.
