A Ceremony of Granting Initial Accreditation Status to Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools Held

 

The ceremony of granting ‘Initial Accreditation Status’ to the nursing and midwifery training schools under the Department of Human Resources for Health of the Ministry of Health was held at the meeting hall of the Midwifery Training School in Nay Pyi Taw on 30 May. At the meeting, the Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win stressed the following points:

  • The Ministry of Health shall take measures so that the qualifications of the nurses can meet the core competency as per the curriculums used by ASEAN member States. Providing that, they can part in the exchange programmes in the ASEAN countries.
  • The Universities and training schools nurturing nurses are required to have acquired the initial accreditation status set by Myanmar Nursing and Midwifery Council. Therefore, the Ministry has implemented the process of quality checks to grant initial accreditation status to the relevant schools.
  • In March 2022, a total of 165 midwives were nurtured from five Midwifery Training Schools and they have already been issued work assignments to enter the workplaces.

It was reported that meeting was attended by the Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Deputy Minister Dr Aye Tun, the heads of general hospital in the Nay Pyi Taw Council territory, the principals and heads and trainees from eight Nursing/ Midwifery Training Schools which were granted ‘Initial Accreditation Status’.
