The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by members of the SAC, Union Ministers, Chief Minister of Yangon Region, senior military officers, Vice-Chairman of Myanmar War Veterans Organization, Commander of Yangon Command and officials, inspected progress in construction of Myanma Tharkaung War Veterans Housing (Laydauntkan) in Dagon Myothit (South) Township in Yangon Region on 26 May.
After the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services heard reports on settlement of war veterans and families at the housing, extended construction of housing, and growing of shade trees presented by officials, he stressed the following points:
- Arrangements are being made to establish the businesses based on agriculture and livestock farms, vocational training schools and jobs, technical high schools, and agriculture and livestock high schools in the compound of the housing. Hence, it is necessary to encourage education enhancement tasks.
- It is necessary to invite investments of businesspersons for the housing to operate businesses where war veterans and families based on their age limit can work.
- It is necessary to currently initiate the pastureland for livestock farms in the project.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and party cordially greeted the war veterans and families residing in the housing and viewed round the housing project by motorcade.
Myanma Tharkaung War Veterans Housing (Laydauntkan) project was started in 2017 with the aim of establishing the war veteran city for those who took retirement from the Tatmadaw with wishes to reside in Yangon. The project will be an urban project facilitated with education, health, social, economic and other basic needs of residents from the housing. The housing comprises a hospital, school and library. War veterans and families are resettled there, and the housing is being extended in construction.
