Perpetrators who Committed Acts of Terrorism and Contacted with Terrorist Groups Given Respective Sentences

 

The perpetrators, who committed acts of terrorism in Shwe Pyi Thar and Dagon Myothit (northern) townships of Yangon region, were faced trials by the military tribunal of Martial Law on 5 May and they were given the following sentences respectively:

  • The three perpetrators; Phyo Min Tun (aka) Ko Phyo, Ko Latt and Phoe Thar were sentenced to ‘death penalty’ under the Section 54 of Counter Terrorism Law for involving in the riots in Shwe Pyi Thar township, having contact with terrorist groups, receiving training in EAO-controlled areas, keeping secretly arms and ammunition, pitching in the assassination of a former ward administrator under the accusation of ‘Dalan’ and shooting the staff members of the administrator office to the death after making a grenade attack on a ward administrator office.
  • Zaw Zaw Tun (aka) Zaw Gyi and Min Sit Thwe (aka) ICE living in Dagon Myothit (northern) of Yangon region were sentenced to ‘life imprisonment’ under the Section 50 (I) of Counter Terrorism Law for pitching in the bomb attack on the police office for controlling traffic near the City Mart at the ‘Thamine’ junction.

Regarding those who are still at large among convicted perpetrators, arrest warrants were reportedly issued under the section 87 and 88 of the criminal procedure code.

  • The three perpetrators living in Shwe Pyi Thar township were sentenced to ‘death penalty’ under the Section 54 of Counter Terrorism Law for involving in the riots in Shwe Pyi Thar township; having contact with terrorist groups; receiving training in EAO-controlled areas; keeping secretly arms and ammunition; pitching in assassination of a former ward administrator under the accusation of ‘Dalan’ and shooting the staff members of the administrator office to the death after making a grenade attack on a ward administrator office.
