The Anti-Corruption Commission set up an investigation team regarding the complaint of the alleged corruptions by Yangon region government social affairs ex-minister U Naing Ngan Lin during his tenure. According to the inspections, he accepted bribes and gifts from the construction company owners who were permitted to construct education infrastructures while he was serving as education building construction tender committee chairman. Therefore, he was prosecuted under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 12 July 2021 with five cases at the Yangon Region High Court. The court hearings of the criminal cases from No. 26/2021 to No.30/2021 were conducted at the Yangon Region High Court.
It is reported that the Yangon Region High Court sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour for five cases (three years imprisonment for each case) under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 28 April.
