The 57th Gems Emporium has been held from 22 and 28 April and 330 pearl lots, 120 gems lots and 2,000 jade lots are being sold through an open tender system at the emporium as per COVID-19 precautionary rules-
- On 27 April, a total of 700 jade lots from series 701 to 1400 lots were on sale through the open tender system, and 457 jade lots were sold out.
- On 28 April, 878 jade lots were sold out.
- From the sale of Myanma gems, 330 pearl lots (100 percent), 54 gems lots (48 percent) and 1,335 jade lots (67 percent) had been sold.
- 1,424 local gem traders and 122 foreign gem traders including 118 gem traders from the People's Republic of China, two from the India, one from Korea and one from Australia, totaling 1,546 gem traders observed the emporium.
Holding Gems Emporium will be conducive for the development of country because it can bring economic benefits such as the cash flow for gem traders, obtaining raw materials for the jewelers and getting job opportunity for workers in the gem sector, generating foreign income and receiving other taxes for the State, it is reported.
