Roundtable Talks between Myanmar and Tatarstan Business Circles with the participation of government and private organizations were held at PARKROYAL Hotel in Capital Nay Pyi Taw on 28 April. Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Naing Oo and President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mr Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov made leading discussions at the talks.
During the roundtable talks,
- The Union minister explained Myanmar’s post-COVID-19 investment priorities and policies, investment facilitation measures, prospects for boosting investment and trade between Myanmar and Tatarstan.
- The President of the Tatarstan discussed enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries and further implementing trade and investment prospects, promoting the area of cooperation including the production and repairs of trucks and vehicles, exchanging working trips and the possibility of educating Myanmar students at higher education institutions in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.
- Ambassador of Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E Dr Nikolay Listopadov, affirmed that the embassy will provide necessary assistance to widen the areas of economic cooperation with the bilateral friendship through the dialogue.
- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Republic of the Tatarstan Mr Karimov Albert Anvarovich also discussed the possible area of cooperation between Myanmar and Tatarstan.
- Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Than Kyaw discussed opportunities for cooperation in onshore oil and gas exploration and production, motor vehicle assembling, fertilizer production, rice and pulses export and tourism development.
Following the briefing, the Myanmar Rice Entrepreneur Association and the JSC “RATSIN” from the Republic of Tatarstan signed and exchanged two letters of Intent-LOI for the export of Myanmar rice and agricultural products and the import of farm fertilizers and chemicals.
It is reported that the Roundtable Talks between Myanmar and Tatarstan Business Circles was attended by over 70 individuals including senior officials from Ministry of Industry and Trade of Republic of the Tatarstan, company entrepreneurs, senior officials from relevant ministries from Myanmar, representatives from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Affiliated Associations and Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation (RMAFC).
