The Anti-Corruption Commission set up an investigation team regarding the complaint of the alleged corruptions by Ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi during her tenure.
According to the investigation team, Ex-State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was prosecuted under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 8-7-2021 at the Mandalay region High Court for accepting cash payments totaling $600,000 and seven visses of gold from the Yangon region ex-chief minister at her house by misusing her power and authority. It is reported that the court hearings of criminal case No. 2/2021 were conducted at the Mandalay Region special court (Nay Pyi Taw). The Mandalay region High Court convicted and sentenced Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to five years in prison under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 27 April 2022.
