The 21st Global Tourism Conference led by Ministry of Tourism (Philippines), organized by the World Travel and Tourism Council-WTTC was held in Manila, the Philippines, on 22 and 23 April. Officials led by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung attended the conference through videoconferencing.
On the first day of the conference, chairman and chief executive officer of the World Travel and Tourism Council, Minister for Tourism of the Philippines and officials discussed under the topic of the “Rediscovering Travel” to developing new ways to resume tourism matters. On the second day, private entrepreneurs and experts from various countries and officials discussed under the topic of promoting sustainable development in all tourism sectors in the future.
Myanmar, which is rich in tourism resources and attractions, is planning to attract international tourists following the COVID-19 rules and regulations and will be able to contribute to the sustainable development of tourism sector in the future by incorporating the findings of this global tourism conference, it is reported.
The conference was also joined by government officials, private entrepreneurs and experts from various countries. The theme of the event was “Rediscovering Travel” to developing new ways to resume tourism, to promote sustainable development in all sectors, share its achievements in the future, and address the challenges in society, environment, and economy based on the common compassion, values, and goals among those working in the tourism industry.
The conference discussed the matters related to developing new ways to resume tourism, establishing the fund, connecting with confidence while travelling, achieving and innovating tourism objectives, smoothing the transportation sector, assessments of the advanced tourism market and tourism reshaping. The second day of the conference continued yesterday morning. Officials from the tourism sector and international tourism experts participated in the discussion, which focused on the resumption of tourism, humanitarian actions, and sustainable development of the industry in the future.
