Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Attends Opening Ceremony of 57th Myanma Gems Emporium

The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony to open the 57th Myanma Gems Emporium at Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on 22 April. The meeting was attended by members of the SAC, Union Ministers, chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, mayor of Central Bank of Myanmar, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, departmental personnel, officials of Myanmar Gems Entrepreneurs Association and gems traders.

The Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister and party viewed the video clip on the production process of jewellery items and preparations to hold the Myanma Gems Emporium, and inspected round the jade, gem and pearl lots displayed at the Maniyadana Jade Hall and uncut jade lots, and the 35-tonne largest jade stone, displayed outside the hall. The Prime Minister of the State instructed officials to arrange the sales of pearl and jewellery items at the current emporium by foreign currencies US dollar, Euro and Yuan and in the coming emporiums by Hong Kong dollar and Thai baht in addition to US dollar, Euro and Yuan. Afterwards, the Prime Minister of the State inspected the situations on the improvement of the jade park and attended to the needs for the reports of the officials.

The largest jade stone was cut from the 308-tonne jade rock excavated from block-2 being operated in mutual interest with the State in Metlinchaung mine in Lonkhin-Phakant gem land. It is a quality utility jade stone, and its reserve price is calculated as more than 5 million euros.

The jade park, located on 8.26 acres of land, was inaugurated in 2010. A total of 5,117 pieces of uncut jade stones and 14,252 other uncut stones are allotted in the park. In accord with the guidance of the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister, the park has been upgraded as of February 2022.
