Aiming to collect Myanmar Population and Housing Census in 2024, a coordination meeting on formation of Central Census Commission and Committee in accord with the Myanmar Population and Housing Census Law No. 3 enacted on 29 July 2013, was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on 21 April.
During the meeting, the Union Minister U Khin Yi stressed the following points:
- Myanmar has collected nationwide census in 2014 and the next time is in 2024.
- Plans are being made to collect the census in 2024 with four working steps such as preparation process, collecting census data, compiling the statistics and making assessment and issuing reports in nearly 51 months started from October 2021 to December 2025.
- During the term of current government, for the preparation process, the five steps out of eight steps including compiling basis data, drafting master plan for census collecting, formation of census commission and committees at respective levels, drawing map with the use of GIS technology, planning the collecting plots, and compiling sample questions will be implemented by scheduling as the first process.
Afterwards, Director of Department of Population explained the plans to collect Myanmar Population and Housing Census, and the formation of Central Census Commission and Committee (draft). The attendees then gave suggestions with their supportive plans.
