US$ 160.3479 million were generated from the export of 161,283 tonnes of fishery products to foreign markets from Kawthaung of Myanmar within the six-month period starting from October 2021 to the end of March 2022.
More fishery products entered into the Kawthaung cross-border post for export following the COVID-19 outbreak. In spite of that, in comparison with the same period of the previous year, the export volume of fishery products decreased around over 18,000 tonnes, US$1.245 million in value.
The export of fish can decrease in the three-month spawning season of April, May and June in Myanmar sea. The Kawthaung district is reportedly relies on the shallow-water fishing mainly and around licensed shallow-water fishing boats operate in it.
