The Ministry of Electricity and Energy stated that the reports claiming ‘the country is facing a shortage of petrol stocks at the Thilawa oil storage tank terminal’ were just the rumours; at present, there are around 45 millions of petroleum gas and around 70 millions of diesel in local; Currently, there have been two fuel oil tankers that have docked at the Depot, and fuel oil cannot be unloaded into fuel storage tanks due to Thinggyan holidays; there is no closing fuel station except for the ones under constructions; the rumours of fuel shortage caused panic buying of fuel leading to the closures of some fuel stations temporarily for insufficient infrastructures and employees.
the Ministry of Commerce virtually held a coordination meeting on the facilitation of process of importing fuel at the meeting hall of the ministry. At the meeting, relevant committees and companies of Fuel Oil Importers discussed on the matters of panic buying of fuel oil and the limited selling of fuel at fuel stations.
It is reported that companies of fuel oil importers agreed to sell the fuel to public unlimitedly within the boundary of reference prices at the fuel stations without worrying about the importing procedures.
