Nay Pyi Taw Former Mayor and Former Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Dr Myo Aung, Former Deputy Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee U Ye Min Oo, and Former Member U San Naing Charged under Anti-Corruption Law

The Anti-Corruption Commission set up an investigation team into allegations against officials of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee: Nay Pyi Taw Former Mayor and Former Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Dr Myo Aung, Former Deputy Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee U Ye Min Oo, and Former Member U San Naing. According to the findings of the investigation team,

  • Dr Myo Aung and U San Naing, during their tenures, allowed a public to make the land reclamation of 96 plots of land and connection of water pipeline in Nyanadipa Ward, Pobbathiri Township. Therefore, the State lost more than K258,0 million.
  • Dr Myo Aung and U San Naing, during their tenures, also permitted to make the land reclamation of 35 private plots near Htantabin Tawra Monastery in Dekkhinathiri Township. So, the State lost more than K390 million.
  • Similarly, Dr Myo Aung and U Ye Min Oo, during their tenures, also sold more than five acres of land near the Nay Pyi Taw Myoma Market, where is located to the South of Pyinmana-Taungnyo road, to a company to open a shopping mall. Therefore, the State lost about K2,000 million

Due to the above findings, a file against Nay Pyi Taw Former Mayor and Former Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Dr Myo Aung, former deputy mayor U Ye Min Oo and committee member No (5) U San Naing was filed under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law at the No (1) Myoma Police Station of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory on 19 April.

  • It is investigated that Nay Pyi Taw Former Mayor and Former Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Dr Myo Aung, former deputy mayor U Ye Min Oo and former committee member U San Naing permitted to make land reclamation, hiring land plots and selling land areas, and the State lost about K502 million in total. Due to the findings, a file against them was opened at the No (1) Myoma Police Station of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory.
