Terrorists to Carry Out Bomb Attacks in Yangon during Thingyan Holidays Arrested with Arms and Ammunitions

Since the CRPH, NUG and PDF terrorist groups, with the aim of jeopardizing the State’s administrative mechanism, are committing the callous crimes of killing the innocent civilians, and carrying out motiveless bomb attacks on public buildings and places, the State Government is making utmost efforts to deter such bomb attacks that cause public panic during the occasion of Thingyan festival. In this regard, all possible measures have been taken day and night by identifying and arresting the perpetrators as follows:

• On 5 April 2022, security forces arrested a total of 16 perpetrators: Thiri Wai (aka) Ma Wai of 28 in Insein township; nine perpetrators in Mingaladon township and three terrorist members of so-called God of Death (GOD) in Mayangon township.  Along with them, one M-16 rifle, one MK-12 rifle, one .22 gun, nine homemade guns, 21 assorted homemade mines, 1,765 assorted bullet rounds, four magazines, one MK-12 muzzle cover, one MK-12 butt, two telescopes, one silencer, 500 detonators, seven remote control handsets, 80 cartridges, other related materials used for making homemade guns and mines were seized. 
• On 11 April, an explosion occurred near the entrance of Harry’s Bar in the ground floor of Myanmar Plaza in Bahan township. On 13 April, Security forces halted three suspects to inspect them on the Phoe Sein street of Nat Mauk ward in Tar Mwe township. However, the three suspects ran away after shooting security forces members.
• Security forces members gave pursuit of those three suspects by firing them. Therefore, Khant Kyi Thar of 25, Hein Htet naing of 17 and Tint Htoo Naing (aka) Gu Gu of 18 were arrested together with two Sig Saucer pistol guns, two magazines, 16 bullet rounds of 9mm pistol and three hand grenades. They got gunshot wounds and the suspect Tine Htoo Naing died of his wounds on the way to the nearest hospital.

The arrested perpetrators did the following activities:

• Under the arrangement of the perpetrator Ko Kyar (still at large), Thiri Wai (aka) Ma Wai, Sha Mwe Hla (aka) U Shin Gyi, Kyaw Zaw Win, Thet Paing Soe and Aye Chan Ko Ko took one-month terrorist bombing training in KNLA Brigade (6)-controlled area in July 2021. Similarly, Kyaw Kyaw Aung (aka) Kyaw Gyi also received one-month terrorist bombing training in KIA headquarters in Laiza.
• Under the lead of the perpetrators Maria (still at large) and Thiri Wai(aka) Ma Wai, the so-called ‘’Union Myanmar Civil Development’ terrorist group was formed with around 100 members in August 2021. With the lead of the perpetrator Soe Lay (still at large), the so-called ‘God of Death (GOD)’ terrorist group was formed with around 30 members in October 2021.
• They received the funds required to make terrorist bomb attacks from the offender Maria (still at large). Moreover, they also obtained additional funds from the extreme NLD party members in domestic and abroad as well as the so-called NUG, CRPH terrorist groups by sharing their images taken during the training period in KNLA Brigade (6)-controlled area on social network.
• The perpetrator Hein Htet Naing together with his sister of Honey Win (still at large) took the terrorist bombing trainings once each in Battalion (101) of KNLA Brigade (7) in April and in June.

The seven public places to be blown up in Yangon by the so-called UMCD and GOD terrorist groups are:

• The Pioneer club in Pyay road eastern ward of Dagon township.
• The Modern 12 KTV on Phayar street of Hlaingthaya township.
• The North Okkalapa roundabout in North Okkalapa township.
• Kabar Aye Villa in Mayangon township.
• The Sky Way club in Strand street of Kyi Myin Dine township.
• The ‘Tun’ Foundation office in Hlaingthaya township.
• The Maha Bandoola Park in Kyauktada township.

The three perpetrators including Hein Htet Naing made bomb attacks and arson attacks in public places in Yangon region as follows:

• On 23 March 2022, the three perpetrators set fire to one YBS public transport bus near Thakin Mya park in Ahlon township.
• On 25 March, the three perpetrators set fire to one ATM of KBZ Branch (3) in Dagon Myothit (North) township.
• On 11 April, the three perpetrators threw a hand grenade to the Harry’s Bar in the ground floor of Myanmar Plaza in Bahan township.

     It is reported that punitive actions will be taken under the law against the perpetrators arrested.

• Security forces arrested a total of 16 perpetrators who attempted to carry out terrorist bomb attacks in Yangon during Thingyan holidays.
• Security forces members gave pursuit of three perpetrators who threw a hand grenade to the entrance of Harry’s Bar in the ground floor of Myanmar Plaza in Bahan township. Therefore, one perpetrator died and another two perpetrators were arrested together with two Sig Saucer pistol guns, two magazines, 16 bullet rounds of 9mm pistol and three hand grenades.
• The so-called UMCD and GOD terrorist groups planned to launch terrorist bombings in the seven public places in Yangon as per the guidance of the CRPH and NUG terrorist groups.
• The three perpetrators including Hein Htet Naing made bomb attacks and arson attacks in three public places in Yangon region as per the guidance of the CRPH and NUG terrorist groups.
