KIA Group and PDF Terrorist Groups Fire under Cover of Public Buildings and Residential Houses at Security Forces in Pinlebu Township

KIA and pro-NLD political party extreme PDF terrorist groups has come to launch terrorist acts such as blockades across road, extortions of local residents and travelers, committing motiveless terrorist murders of civil servants and innocent civilians, attacks under the cover of State-owned buildings, public hospitals, schools, residential houses, villages, markets, State-owned banks, departmental offices on security forces members, building military posts around Pinlebu township of Sagaing region. Hence, security forces have to fight back against those terrorist groups unavoidably.

· On 29 March and 1 April, security forces fought with terrorist groups near Kapanta village in Pinlebu township of Sagaig region.

· On 3 April, security forces fought against terrorist groups after they spotted a terrorists’ hideout around one mile away to the northeast of New Lain village located over eight miles away to the northeast of Pinlebu township.

· In the incidents, security forces captured two dead bodies of terrorists wearing military camouflage uniforms, two M-22 rifle guns, one 40-mm grenade launcher made by KIA, one 79-mm grenade launcher, one homemade shot-gun, 59 bullet rounds of M-22, 15 shells of 40-mm grenade launcher, five magazines of M-22, 131 bullet rounds of 7.62 mm, two homemade grenades, two walkie-talkies, one military camouflage uniform and other belongings from terrorists.

· On 4 April, security forces raided a military post where terrorists are hiding and is located two miles away to the northeast of New Lain village which is located nine miles away to the northeast of Pinlebu township, according to the report of local residents. Then, security forces fought against some 150 terrorists and captured a terrorists’ hideout fenced with bamboo, two dead bodies of terrorists wearing military camouflage uniforms, eight shot guns, 18 magazines of M-22, 135 bullet rounds M-22, two homemade guns and one telescope of sniper rifle and other related items.

· On 9 and 10 April while security forces were raiding the military posts of terrorists, terrorist groups with large-scale force launched an attack on a police station and security forces, taking the cover of the hospital, school, fire-brigade building and Myanma Economic Bank in Pinlebu. Therefore, security forces fought back against terrorists and terrorists got casualties and ran away in disarray to the North of the township.

· In the incidents, some security forces members died in battle and got injured. However, a total of eight dead bodies of terrorists: four dead bodies wearing military camouflage uniforms with KIA/PDF badges and another four dead bodies wearing sports jerseys, five M-22 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, one KIA-made 40mm revolver, one 7.62mm sniper, 22 magazines of M-22, 1345 bullet rounds of M-22, 115 bullet rounds of 7.62 mm sniper, nine shells of 40mm grenade launcher, 19 KIA-made grenades, 17 shells of 60mm mortar and one hand grenade were captured.

· The signs of using narcotic drugs were found in some dead bodies of terrorists and some narcotic drugs and related materials were also found in terrorists’ military posts captured.

It is found out that terrorist acts such as firing under the cover of non-military targets of administrative, educational buildings, residential houses in towns/villages at security forces and attacking non-military targets of departmental buildings are breaching against the provisions prescribed in Geneva conventions and International Law.

Legal actions will be pursued to take under the Counter-Terrorism Law, Penal Code and existing laws against terrorists. Further, security forces are continuing necessary security tasks to restore community peace and tranquility.
