Union Ministers Receives Indian Ambassador to Myanmar

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, Union Minister for Border Affairs, Union Minister for International Cooperation, Union Minister for Health and Union Minister for Electricity and Energy received H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar separately on 6 April. During the meeting, they discussed the following matters:

  • In the meeting with Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further advancement of the existing friendly bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and strengthening closer collaboration in regional and multilateral contexts.
  • In the meeting with Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, they discussed the matters relating to the peace and stability and development of the border areas in Myanmar, the development of human resources and availabilities of job opportunities for the ethnic nationals, the successful implementation of the infrastructures for roads and bridges, education, and medical issues in Chin state and Naga Self-Administered Zone with the assistance of India, and cooperation matters for the development of border areas between two countries.
  • In the meeting with Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, they exchanged views on matters relating to the promotion of bilateral trades and rendering humanitarian assistance for resettlement of the displaced persons from Rakhine State.
  • In the meeting with Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, they cordially exchanged views on matters relating to the cooperation issues on the infectious diseases like COVID-19 at the two countries, further collaborative efforts on the teaching of advanced medical courses like the liver transplant surgery in order to develop the human resources in the medical sector and research activities for medical science, cooperation issues for further enhancement of health sector, and prevention of world contagious with the bilateral friendship.
  • In the meeting with Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo, they cordially exchanged views on matters relating to the cross-border power grid for the development of electricity sector in Myanmar, hydropower projects, solar energy plant projects, and cooperation in oil and natural gas businesses.

During the meetings, Union Ministers congratulated the Ambassador for having been appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It is reported that the officials from Myanmar and officials from India Embassy to Myanmar attended the events.
