People who Swindled Money from those who Want to buy Forged Banknotes Arrested
Cases of swindle involving forged banknotes are reported as unscrupulous persons are opening Facebook pages using various names swindling money from people after convincing them that they can buy forged money. Therefore, necessary measures are taken with technology assistance in order to arrest the Facebook page users.
In this regard, during the attempts to identify and arrest the Facebook pages for dealing forged banknotes with technology assistance, some residents of Nyaung Win village, Kywal Tae Gon village tract, Myan Aung township of Ayeyarwady region were arrested as follows:
- Zwe Wai Phyo, 22 and Aye Pa Pa, who operated the ‘Shine Money’ forged banknotes deal Facebook page were arrested along with three mobile phones.
- Thet Pai Phyo, 30, who operated forged banknotes deal Facebook pages – ‘ပိုင်ကြီးပိုင်ကြီး’, ‘ကျီးကောင်းမြတ်’၊ ‘ခြူးခြူး’ and a page described in Thai language was arrested along with his handphone.
- Hein Htet Phyo, 18 who operated the forged banknotes deal Facebook page, ‘အောင်ကောင်းမာန်’ was arrested along with his handphone.
- Thet Wai Khaing, 18, Aye Pyae Sone, 17 and Aung Khant Paing, 17 who operated the ‘ငွေတုရောင်းဝယ်ရေး’ Facebook page were arrested along with seven mobile phones.
According to the confessions of the arrestees, although their Facebook pages describe ‘forged money dealing’, they did not actually make and sell counterfeit banknotes. It is found out that they just swindle money of advance payment from people after making them believe their words. The seven arrested offenders including Zwe Wai Phyo were reportedly opened files at Kanaung local police station under Section 66 (C) of Telecommunication Law.
