The State Administration Council is escorting a group of artistes to significant landmarks in the country with the purpose of boosting domestic tourism which was affected during the COVID-19 period.
In the morning of 29 March, the group visited the Gokteik viaduct from the Pyin Oo Lwin station by a train. When the train arrived between Gangaw village and Sinlansu village, it was attacked by PDF terrorists using a remote-controlled bomb. Although the artistes, security personnel and the railway staff were not injured, the floor of the second upper class carriage was damaged.
Regarding the incident, religious and social organizations released statements describing that they strongly condemn such terrorist attacks against the artistes.
- The Interfaith Friendship Organization (Central) and Young Men's Buddhist Association (YMBA) respectively released the statements of their attitude describing that, the people who want stability and peace are condemning terrorists who are committing various acts of sabotage and people are urged to work together to prevent such violent acts and to arrest those involved in the crime as soon as possible.
- Myanmar Press Council released a statement describing that as these acts of terrorism are destructive activities that do not contribute to the stability, development, the attainment of enduring peace and the establishment of a Union based on genuine and disciplined democracy, they strongly condemn all kinds of terrorist acts, including this act.
- Myanmar Music Association (Central) and Myanmar Comedians Association also released statements describing that they strongly condemn such act of terrorism.
While the government is working hand in hand with the people to develop the country in all aspects, the people who want stability and peace are reportedly condemning PDF terrorists who are committing various acts of sabotage in different ways.
- PDF terrorists launched a remote-mine attack on the train carrying artistes, who are contributing to the development of tourism sector (domestic and foreign) in Myanmar, leaving the floor of the second upper class carriage damaged and no injuries were reported.
- The Interfaith Friendship Organization (Central), Young Men's Buddhist Association (YMBA), Myanmar Press Council, Myanmar Music Association (Central) and Myanmar Comedians Association respectively released statements describing that they strongly condemn such violent act.
