The opening ceremony of the ethnic representatives’ meeting (forum) aiming to strengthen the ethnic solidarity and Union spirit was organized on 28 March. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, State Administration Council advisory board member Dr Salai Andrew Ngun Cung Lian, permanent secretary of Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, director-general and relevant officials. During the first day of the meeting:
- The Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing talked measures to strengthen the national unity.
- The Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint discussed the peacemaking processes phase (1) of Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC).
- The Deputy Minister for Ehtnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung discussed ethnic affairs and NCA phase (1).
As benefits to ethnic unity and peacemaking processes can be brought through cooperation on effective ways shared by scholars on the forum among Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, Ministers for Ethnic Affairs and Ethnic representatives, the two-day forum will be held from 28 to 29 March.
- U Ko Ko Hlaing, U Saw Tun Aung Myint and U Zaw Aye Maung discussed about effective ways to bring benefits to ethnic unity and peacemaking processes on the forum.
