Suspects of Robbery Case on Insein Overpass Arrested

On 19 December, U Hnin Ngwe, owner of Kyon Sin Jewellery shop opened in the Insein market of Zaygon Ward in Insein Township, returned to his house together with his wife and son from his shop. When they arrived in the middle of the Insein overpass, a white Probox taxi blocked their way and robbed two handbags containing four visses and 50 ticals of gold worth of (K720 million) and ran away.

The police investigated to arrest the suspects, and on the evening of 22 December, they seized the Probox car and one homemade bomb on that car at Arkar Kyaw car workshop near Danyingon railway station in Insein township. When they inspected the owner of the car, they arrested Thant Zin Oo, 33 and Aye Aye Han, 43 in No 42 Ward of Dagon Myothi (North) in the evening along with K1,140,000 and 246 various units of goldwares.

According to the confession of the arrested offenders:

· Another suspect was arrested along with K900,000, and 187 various units of goldwares in Ywama (West) Ward of Insein Township.

· Other three suspects were arrested in No (1) ward of North Okkalapa Township together with K13.5 million, 29 various units of goldwares and one Probox taxi.

· Another suspect who was to melt and deform the robbed goldwares was arrested at Kyat Chan Kwin (1) Ward in Mayangon Township.

· Another suspect was arrested along with K900,000, and 31 various units of goldwares in Thamine Myothit ward.

· Two more suspects were also arrested in No 2 Ward of Mayangon Township together with 31 various units of goldwares and 5,450 WY tablets.

In this case, the police arrested 10 suspects— 7 males and 3 females together with K16,440,000, 284 rings, 87 pairs of earrings, 44 necklaces, 12 hand chains, 67 chains, 23 bracelets, two gold buttons, 5,450 WY tablets and two taxi cars.

It found out that the arrested suspects along with other five suspects who are still at large were shared respective responsibilities such as inspecting the condition of the shop including its opening and closing time; following the vehicle driven by U Hnin Ngwe; blocking and robbing the vehicle; sharing robbed materials; melting and deforming the goldwares.

The arrested suspects committed robbery for their own interests taking advantages on the doings of PDF terrorist groups that intentionally conducted bomb attacks in public areas to threaten the public, killings of innocent people, destroyed CCTVs and Control Box which are installed for security reasons. The suspects robbed the goldwares after using drugs.

Therefore, the people are requested to report to the security forces regarding the activities of the offenders at large and the so-called PDF terrorists and those who give information will be awarded covertly. And moreover, the entire public participation is called for restoring the community peace and stability as early as possible.
