The officials from the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission attended the first Technical Working Group Meeting of the Southeast Asian National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF) hosted by the Philippines Human Rights Commission, Current Chair of the forum, on 23 and 24 March via a virtual online platform. During the meeting, the officials discussed the following matters:
- The activities and progress of the forum membership National Human Rights Commissions following the 18thAnnual Meeting of the Forum held in December 2021.
- The implementation of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan and the 2022 Action Plan.
- Discussions on the sharing activities related to the global movement for the rights of the elderly andmatters relating to the lack of information during the COVID-19 pandemic and the occurrence of misinformation.
The related meeting of the above forum which is the “SEANF Leadership in Mitigating Disinformation to Promote Human Rights Online Discussion Series on Influence Operations” was held in the afternoon of 23 March. During the meeting, the officials explained the experiences on human rights relating to the lacks of information and impacts of human rights, the impacts of women and vulnerable groups due to the lacks of information while the members of SEANF exchanged the views on experiences regarding the human rights.
The meeting was attended by members of SEANF, chairmen and members of the human rights commissions from Southeast Asia, and office staff while the related meeting of the forum was attended by chairman and member of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, representatives of SEANF and representatives of private organizations of Philippines.
