Perpetrators, who contacted with organizations declared as Terrorist Groups under the notification (2/2021) issued by Anti-Terrorism Central Committee, shot and killed innocent civilians and civil servants and were involved in launching bomb attacks on public buildings, departmental offices/buildings, were convicted by military tribunal of Martial Law and sentenced respectively on 22 March 2022 as follows:
- Zaw Lin Tun (aka) Zwe Ko living in North Okkalapa township of Yangon region was sentenced to ‘life imprisonment’ under the Section 50 (I) of Counter Terrorism Law for involving in assassinations on a senior assistant teacher and an administrator as well as grenade attacks on a police station for security and an EPC office.
- Nwe Tun (aka) U Wimala living in Bokaly township of Ayeyarwady region was sentenced to ‘imprisonment for a term of 20 years’ under the Section 302 (2)/114 of Penal Code for killing and burning of two innocent civilians living in Hlaingthaya (East) township, accusing them of informer/dalan.
- Phyo Kyaw Zin (aka) Ko Phyo, Kaung Myat (aka) Saw Kaung Myat, Ko Ko and Win Ko living in Hlaingthaya township of Yangon region were sentenced to ‘death penalty’ under the Section 302 (1)(B)/34 of Penal Code for shooting a female nurse to death who was working at ‘Parami Clinic’ in Hlaingthaya (East) township.
- Regarding those who are still at large among convicted perpetrators, arrest warrants were reportedly issued under the section 87 and 88 of the criminal procedure code.
It is reported that 23 types of crimes to be adjudicated by Military Tribunal in the townships under Martial Law order has been released as an appendix and effective and prompt legal actions have been taken against those who committed the crimes.
