Union Ministers Receives Special Envoy to Myanmar of ASEAN Chair

H.E. Mr Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and special envoy to Myanmar of the ASEAN Chair and Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN arrived at Nay Pyi Taw and held the talks with the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Union Minister for Office of the Union Government Ministry (1) and the Union Minister for International Cooperation.

  • During the meet with the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin, the Union Minister explained the implementation of the five-point consensus must be a Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-led process. He also highlighted that the special envoy’s first visit to Myanmar would pave the way for confidence-building and understanding to promote cooperation in ASEAN.
  • During the meet with the member of the State Administration Council Union Minister for Office of the Union Government Ministry (1) Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiating Committee Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, the Union Minister first explained on the implementation of the peace process in Myanmar. Afterwards, the two sides exchanged views on and discussed the situation of national unity and peace in Myanmar.
  • During the meet with the Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, the Union Minister and special envoy exchanged views on the implementation of the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar for Phase-1 and preparations for Phase-2, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

The Union Minister of Foreign Affairs hosted the dinner for the special envoy of the ASEAN Chair, who is the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Secretary-General of ASEAN at the M Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
