The day of 16 March is a Full Moon Day of Tabaung, one of the days of special significance for Buddhist people. On that Full Moon Day, Buddhist pagodas, stupas, temples and monasteries were crowed with people who are making merit, keeping the Sabbath and giving feasts in charity for all comers.
The Shwe Dagon Pagoda in Yangon, and other pagodas and stupas in Mayangon, Insein, Botahtaung, Dagon, Bahan, Sanchaung, Yankin and North Okkalapa townships were crowded with pilgrims and people who are making food, lamps and water offerings, chanting Pathana Pali and Metta Sutta, giving feasts in charity for all comers.
Similarly, famous Pagodas in respective regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay region were also reportedly crowded with pilgrims and people who are making merit.
