A ceremony to confer religious titles for 2022 took place at the Sasana Maha Beikman in the precincts of the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on 16 March. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka and title-recipient Sayadaws for 2022. The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremony and offered titles to the title-recipient Sayadaws.
- The Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister presented the title of Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru and made offerings to Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nyanaindasaya of Mizzimayone Parami Monastery of Yesagyo township in Magway region. Then, the Prime Minister gave Agga Maha Sirisaddhama Mani Jotadhara title and insignia to U Sai Mon.
- Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister presented Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Title and made offerings to Nun Daw Aeinda Theingi of the Sasana Beikman Nunnery of Sagaing township and Daw AeinsanaVati of Daw Vizanandi Kantha Nunnery of Sagaing township nd gave Agga Maha Siri Suddhama Seingi titles and insignia to Dr San San Yi and Dr Khin Mya Win.
- The Vice-Chairman of the SAC Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win offered made offerings to the Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw and presented Abhidhaja MahaRattha Guru title to Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nyanavamsa of Htay Pariyatti Monastery of Myingyan township in Mandalay region.
- The wife of the Vice-Chairman of the SAC Deputy Prime Minister presented Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita title and made offerings to Nun Dr Daw Sekavati of Chan Myae Gone Wai Pariyatti Paripatti Parahita Nunnery of Mayangon township.
- The SAC members and union-level departmental heads presented Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru, Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhama Jotika,Agga Maha Pandita,Agga Maha Saddhama Jotikadhaja, Agga Maha Gantavasaka Pandita and Agga Maha Kammatthanacariya titles and offertories to the title-recipient Sayadaws respectively.
The SAC conferred religious titles on 284 monks at home and abroad, 41 nuns and 41 lay persons in 2022. During the today ceremony, a total of nine Venerable Sayadaws were conferred with the title of Abhidhaja MahaRattha Guru and eight Venerable Sayadaws with Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika, 18 Venerable Sayadaws with Agga Maha Pandita, 23 Venerable Sayadaws with Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita, three nuns with Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita, 41 Sayadaws with Agga Maha Saddhama Jotikadhaja, six monks with Agga Maha Kammatthanacariya while one person with AggaMahaThiriThuddhama Mani Zawtadhaya and two persons with AggaMahaThiriThuddhammaTheingi for the year 2022.
After the ceremony, the Prime Minister and wife paid homage to Sayadaw Venerable Metarenba Hemaratana Nayaka Thero of Sithulpawwa Rajamaha Viharaya, Galle of Sri Lanka who won the Agga Maha Pandita title and Director Venerable Medawachchiye Dhammajothi Thero of University of Kelaniya of Sri Lanka who won the AggaMaha Gandhavasaka Pandita title.
