COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

  • Up to 14 March, 24.93 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 21.45 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 3.48 million people have received the first doses. A total of 47.30 million people have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.
  • A total of 921,914 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as booster doses in respective regions and states from 1 January to 14 March 2022.
  • Ministry of Health issued a press release that, as the COVID-19 diagnosis confirmed rate, infection rate and mortality rate have dropped significantly at present, up to 400 people have been allowed to assemble from 16-3-2022, exclusive of the exceptional cases.
  • The coordination meetings of COVID-19 prevention, control, treatment and emergency response were held in Shan state and Rakhine state on 14 and 15 March.

Officials continue to welcome Myanmar nationals who returned from abroad at various border crossings as per the instruction of the State Administration Council-

  • Returnees were welcomed at the border crossings located in Kachin state, Kayin state, Tanintharyi region and Shan state. A total of 69,981 Myanmar nationals had returned to Myanmar from abroad from 25 July 2021 to 14 March 2022.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 683 new cases of COVID-19 were detected from testing a total of 23,500 samples and accounting for 2.91percent on 15 March. Up to 15 March 2022, a total of 606,910 cases were detected from testing a total of 7,422,318 samples and death-toll reached 19,414.
