More than US$ 500 million generated from the export of over 700,000 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans to foreign markets within five months in 2021-2022 FY starting from 1 October 2021 to 25 February 2022.
Within the period:
- A total of US$ 515.686 million was earned from the export of 662,169.229 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans via shipment.
- US$ 40.335 million was earned from the export of 48,446.869 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans via border trade posts.
- A total of US$ 556.021 million was earned from the export of 710,616.098 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans in total.
The production from growing assorted beans is the second largest in Myanmar, accounting for 33 percent of agricultural products of the whole country. Assorted beans are grown in 20 percent of agricultural land area of Myanmar. Black gram, green gram and pigeon pea are grown much on that land area, accounting for 72 percent of agricultural land area of assorted beans grown. Black-eyed pea, kidney bean, butter bean, rice bean, chick-pea, soybean, green pea and other beans are also grown on it.
As of 2020-2021 FY, it is reported that a total of US$ 1,570.707 million were generated from the export of 2,029,695.882 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans: US$ 996.407 million from the export of 1,242,775.231 tonnes via shipment and US$ 604.3 million from the export of 786,920.651 tonnes via border trade posts.
