Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar are putting stress on seizures of narcotic drugs, and the seizures in February 2022 were as follows:
- From 1 to 28 February, a total of 389 drug-related offenders including 347 males and 42 females were arrested across the country. Along with them, a total of MMK 176,362.46 million ( over US$ 99 million) worth narcotic drugs: 532.055 kilos of opium; 35.618 kilos of heroin; 50,801,208 stimulant tablets; 1,100.519 kilos of Ice (crystal meth); 36.629 kilos of marijuana; 0.055 kilos of concentrated opium solid; 0.35 kilos of low-grade opium; 1.7963 kilos of Kratom leaves; 1.968 kilos of Kratom powder; 750 Ecstasy tablets; 120,000 Alprazolam tablets; 0.82 kilos of Ketamine; 8,360 kilos of Ammonium Nitrate; 47,750 kilos of Sodium cyanide and 1.5 litres of Dioctyl Terephthalate were seized.
The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and punitive actions are being taken against them in accordance with the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force joining hands with security forces members are making further efforts to identify and arrest drug-related offenders for the eradication of narcotic drugs.
