Union Minister U Htay Aung Attends Meeting on Benefits of CLMVT Forum and its Continuation

The Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung attended the coordination meeting chaired by the Kasetsart University of Thailand on the benefits of the CLMVT Forum which includes Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Thailand, and the continuation of the forum through videoconferencing on 2 March 2022.

At the meeting, the Union Minister expressed the following points:

  • The Forum is not only a forum for cooperation for the economic development of CLMVT countries but it can also enhance the regional cooperation through the recommendations, knowledge and views of the government, private, international organizations and experts.
  • The tourism sector is one of the key sectors that benefit not only CLMVT countries but also internationally for economic and social development.
  • He believed that the outcome of the forum will lead to sustainable development and benefits for the countries through clear guidelines and recommendations for public-private tourism cooperation and implementation, urging them to work together for a comprehensive forum that would come up with useful and supportive developments.

It is reported that Dr Montchai Pinitjitsamut from the Kasetsart University of Thailand briefed all on the holding of the forum, and its benefits and outcomes. Myanmar officials discussed the inclusion of tourism cooperation in the forum agenda and the need for tourism cooperation in the future.
