COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

  • Up to 1 March, 23.63 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 20.99 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 2.64 million people have received the first doses. 45.41 million people in total have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.
  • A total of 778,616 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as booster doses in respective regions and states from 1 January to 1 March 2022.
  • In controlling the infection of COVID-19 pandemic, the effective period of the Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel Issue-2, which was released by the former Ministry of Health and Sports, was further extended until 31 March 2022. 
  • As it is necessary to continuously control infection of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), public requests, orders, notifications and directives (except for easing the restrictions) released by the Union-level organizations and Union ministries have been further extended until 31 March 2022 for prevention, control and treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
  • Aiming at undertaking effective plans to protect Myanmar nationals from the risks of importing COVID-19 pandemic from abroad and spread to others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar released an announcement regarding the temporary entry restrictions for visitors from all countries and its effective period was extended until 31 March 2022.
  • On 1 March 2022, Chief Minister and ministers of Yangon region government inspected the preparation works done for treatment centers against COVID-19, installation of oxygen pipe lines and reserved oxygen concentrators.

Officials continue to welcome Myanmar nationals who returned from abroad at various border crossings as per the instruction of the State Administration Council-

  • Returnees were welcomed at the border crossings located in Kachin state, Kayin state, Tanintharyi region and Shan state. A total of 68,199 Myanmar nationals had returned to Myanmar from abroad from 25 July 2021 to 1 March 2022.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 2,346 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 22,732 samples and the infection rate was 10.32 percent on 1 March. Up to 1 March 2022, a total of 590,237 cases were found from testing a total of 7,143,562 samples and death toll reached 19,372.
