COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme, and a total of 186,784 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 102,271 people as first dose on 23 December.

· A total of 9,739 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 5,732 students as first dose on 23 December. A total of 1,468,235 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to 23 December.

· As of 23 December, 20.2 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 14.3 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 5.9 million people have received the first doses. 34.5 million people in total have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.

· Indian Foreign Secretary H.E. Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringle handed over one million units of COVAXIN donated by Government of India to Myanmar to the representative of Myanmar Red Cross Society.

Measures are being taken to facilitate the import of COVID-19 control, containment and treatment medicines and related equipment-

· On 23 December, one oxygen plant, 40 oxygen generators for household and 10 tons of masks were imported by three companies via International Seaports, Muse 105th mile and Myawady trading zones and Chinshwehaw border trade post.

 The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 276 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 13,407 samples and the infected rates are 2.06 percent on 23 December. Up to 23 December 2021, a total of 529,114 cases were found from testing a total of 5,950,796 samples and death toll reached 19,242.
