COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

  • Up to 13 February, 22.8 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 19.74 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 3.06 million people have received the first doses. 43.06 million people in total have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.
  • A total of 505,726 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 booster doses in respective regions and states from 1 January to 13 February 2022.
  • Until 13 February 2022, there are a total of 348 SARS-CoV-2 Variant Omicron cases: 264 cases were detected from returnees from abroad and 84 cases were detected from people infected locally. The 264 Omicron cases are 244 Myanmar nationals and 20 foreigners.
  • The opening ceremony of oxygen plants constructed with the funds collectively contributed by the Ministry of Health and Ayeyarwady region government and the oxygen plant donated by the Ayeyarwady Development Aid Public Company was held in the yard of Pathein township public hospital on 9 February. At the ceremony was inaugurated by the region Chief Minister, Commander of Regional Military Command and officials. 
  • On 11 February, Commanders of respective Regional Military Commands and officials inspected the construction progress of the oxygen plants and preparations for COVID-19 treatment centres in the Military hospitals of Yangon region, Ayeyarwady region, Sagaing region and Kayin state. Moreover, relevant officials also inspected preparation of treatment centres for COVID-19 patients at the interrogation and accommodation unit and the local military units in Yangon region and fulfilled the needs.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 1,473 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 20,850 samples and the infected rates are 7.06 percent on 13 February. Up to 13 February 2022, a total of 546,771 cases were found from testing a total of 6,689,824 samples and death toll reached 19,310.
