COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

  • Up to 8 February, 22.5 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 19.36 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 3.14 million people have received the first doses. 42.12 million people in total have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.
  • A total of 244,486 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 booster doses in respective regions and states from 1 January to 8 February 2022.
  • A total of 1,452,386 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 109,185 students as first dose up to 8 February.

Officials continue to welcome Myanmar nationals who returned from abroad at various border crossings as per the instruction of the State Administration Council-

  • Returnees were welcomed at the Lweje and Kan Pite Tee border crossings located in Kachin state, the Myawady border crossing located in Kayin state, the Kawthoung and Htee Khee border crossings located in Tanintharyi region, the Muse, Tachileik, Wanbon port (Laos) and Laukkai border crossings located in Shan state. A total of 65,387 returnees had returned to Myanmar from abroad from 25 July 2021 to 8 February 2022.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 1,145 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 25,156 samples and the infected rates are 4.55 percent on 8 February. Up to 8 February 2022, a total of 539,554 cases were found from testing a total of 6,571,493 samples and death toll reached 19,310.
