Union Election Commission Inspects Political Parties in Accordance with Union Election Commission Law

As the Union Election Commission (UEC) is committed to the development of a genuine and disciplined multiparty democracy, UEC looked into the political parties whether they conducted systematically for the memberships of the parties, party funds and property, savings, maintenance, usage, audition and liquidation and parties’ procedures according to the Union Election Law Section 10 (l).

In doing so, the inspection team led by UEC members including representatives of the Union Auditor-General Office, Internal Revenue Department and Bureau of Special Investigation inspected the Yangon-based political parties which are Public Contribute Students Party, New Era Union Party, The Party for People and People Force Party from 31 January to 4 February.

Moreover, the National Unity Party, 88 Generation Students (Union of Myanmar), the National League for Democracy and the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy have been informed by the UEC to be examined from 14 to 18 February 2022; and furthermore, Modern People’s Party, Union of Myanmar Federation of National Politics, Kaman National Development Party and the Yeomanry Development Party have been informed to be examined from 21 to 25 February, according to the UEC.

It is reported that a total of 67 political parties including five parties based in Kachin State, two Kayin State-based parties, two parties based in Sagaing Region, one party based in Taninthayi Region, three parties based in Bago Region, two parties based in Mandalay Region, three parties based in Mon State, seven parties based in Rakhine State, 24 parties based in Yangon Region, 13 parties based in Shan State, one party based in Ayeyawady Region and four parties based in Union Territory have been inspected.
