Criminals who Killed Buddhist Monks and Innocent Civilians Arrested along with Weapons and Ammunitions

The State government has emphasized on the law enforcement measures so that the terrorist groups of CRPH, NUG and PDF could no more conduct violent acts such as bombing attacks and killings of innocent civilians to create public panic. In this regard, from 29 January to 3 February, eight offenders including Nyi Nyi (dead) were arrested along with three assorted small arms and 96 rounds of assorted ammunitions and six homemade bombs.

It was found out that the arrested offenders had attended the explosive trainings and joined the WTRF terrorist group led by NLD party member San Min Aung. San Min Aung provided them necessary weapons and ammunitions.

The cases of terrorist bombing attacks and killings of Buddhist monks and innocent civilians committed by the arrested terrorists are as follows:

  • On 7 and 13 October 2021, three of the arrested offenders, under the instructions of San Min Aung, blew up three Mytel telecommunication towers located near the villages of Falankyin, Thaetawlay and Thonedaunkai of Wundwin township.
  • They had reportedly assassinated a total of 19 innocent people including a Buddhist monk and a female teacher during the period from 15 October 2021 to 28 January 20222. The monk was brutally killed while he was having meals in Mingalar Hman Monastery in Wundwin township.

It was found out that the WTRF terrorist group leader and NLD party member San Min Aung gave direct instructions to the offenders to conduct terrorist acts and sabotages in the Wundwin township; San Min Aung rewarded K50,000 to each offender for every successful case; and the arrested offender Than Zin Tun reportedly supported necessary cash assistance to the WTRF terrorist group.

It was observed that the WTRF terrorist group had committed the bombing attacks in the public areas for three times and the murder crimes for 17 times killing Buddhist monks and innocent civilians with an intent to disrupt the State’s administrative mechanism and to create public panic.

The arrested offenders will reportedly be taken punitive actions in line with law. Moreover, the entire population are requested to fight against the terrorists as well as to report the information on their hideouts and movements to concerned security authorities in order to arrest the terrorists involved in the crimes and other accomplices as early as possible. The entire population has been urged to cooperate in the efforts to restore community peace and stability at soonest and the conscientious people who provide information of the terrorists and contribute efforts to arrest them will be covertly provided cash awards.
