A group with around 150 in strength comprising PDF terrorists and extremists of NLD supporters attacked the local police station and security forces in Winmanar village of Kani township, Sagaing region on 5 February. When security forces returned fire, the terrorists fled in disarray to Taungpyinnge village of YeU township with heavy injuries.
As the terrorists were camping in the school of the village and collecting extortion money from local people and conducting sabotages, security forces raided the school on 7 February. Then, the terrorists fled in disarray leaving one ‘Skat’ vehicle and other related materials including explosives behind.
The attacks against security forces taking cover of educational infrastructures and residential houses that are not related with military and intentionally camping in non-military target of schools are the war crimes according to the Geneva Conventions and international laws. It is reported that punitive actions will be taken against the perpetrators of the crimes under the Counter-Terrorism Law, the Penal Code and other relevant existing laws.
