Among the laboratory samples of the COVID-19 infected people returning from foreign countries through Relief Flights, laboratory samples suspected to be Omicron were sent to the National Health Laboratory on 3 February 2022 and the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant was found in 28 laboratory samples.
The 28 Omicron cases are Myanmar nationals: 12 from Singapore, five from the UAE, five from Malaysia, four from the ROK, one from India and one from Indonesia by Relief Flights.
It is reported that the figure of Omicron cases has risen to 348 in total in Myanmar up to 3 February 2022. The 264 Omicron cases are those who returned from abroad and 84 cases are detected from people infected locally.
