COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

  • As of 1 February, 22.19 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 18.94 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine and 3.25 million people have received the first doses. 41.13 million people in total have been inoculated against COVID-19 in Myanmar.
  • It was announced that public requests, orders, notifications and directives (except for easing the restrictions) released by the Union-level organizations and Union ministries up to 31 January 2022 have been extended until 28 February 2022 for prevention, control and treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
  • In order to prevent the infection of COVID-19 through International travelers, “Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel” was revised as “Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel Issue-2” on 31 December 2020 and its effective period was extended until 28 February 2022.
  • Aiming at undertaking effective plans to protect Myanmar nationals from the risks of importing COVID-19 pandemic from abroad and spread to others, the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar released an announcement regarding the temporary entry restrictions for visitors from all countries on 31 January 2022 and its effective period was extended until 28 February 2022.
  • Chief Minister and officials opened the oxygen plant in Magway public hospital which was donated by Magway region government on 30 January.
  • Until 1 February 2022, there are a total of 310 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant cases: 236 cases were detected from returnees from abroad and 74 cases were detected from people infected locally. The 236 Omicron cases are 216 Myanmar nationals and 20 foreigners.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 861 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 39,983 samples and the infected rates are 2.15 percent on 1 |February. Up to 1 February 2022, a total of 536,393 cases were found from testing a total of 6,393,621 samples and death toll reached 19,310.
