First Kidney Transplant Succeeds at Aungban Military Hospital

According to the guidelines made by the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his visit in June 2020, the first kidney transplant for two patients, who need to transplant kidney,   were successfully operated at the Military Hospital in Aungban on 27 January in addition to the renal dialysis for various kinds of kidney patients.

The operation was performed with the cooperation of urologists led by the Commanding Officer Brigadier General Saw Yan Naing of the Military Hospital, nephrologists and anesthesiologists and specialized nurses. The first kidney transplant was performed with the Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy technique, a surgical procedure that allows a kidney donor to recover faster. Kidney transplants have been performed in Military Hospitals since 1995, and as of today 308 patients with kidney failure have been successfully operated.

The Tatmadaw is performing the national defence duty and assisting national interests as well as intensifying the provision of public health services to the people in the necessary places of the regions and states.
