Illegal Timbers, Food-Stuffs, Consumer Goods, Vehicles and Other Machine Tools Seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, actions are being taken effectively under the law-

• On 15 and 16 January, 41.9056 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K634,798) were seized in Thandwe, Taungup and Gwa Townships of Rakhine state.
• On 19 January, food-stuffs, consumer goods, vehicles were confiscated and the amount of seizures from six cases was a total of estimated K50,345,800 near the Moppalin village in Kyaikto Town of Mon state and also seized wood (estimated value of K15,000,000) in the Thanlwin River of Paung township.
• On 19 January, 8.8974 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated value of K1,934186) were seized in the forest reserves in Bago District and Toungoo District of Bago Region.
• On 19 January, engines and accessories used for gold mining (estimated
  value of K300,000) were seized in Homalin Township of Sagaing Region.
• On 15, 16, 19 and 20 January, there was a total of 14 cases (estimated value of K68,214,784).

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee stated that it continue legal proceedings as per the rules and regulations of customs regarding the seizures.
