A meeting between Myanmar Press Council and National Press Council of Thailand was held via videoconferencing on 20 January. During the meeting, the following points were focused:
- To accelerate the cooperation between the countries for the developments of media and press sector.
- To protect the publishers and journalists who follow the media ethnics and codes of conduct as well as to enhance the information exchange between the media and press personnel of both countries.
- The measures to prioritize the betterment of media freedom by cooperating with the press councils of regional countries.
- Opening capability-building courses for Myanmar media and press personnel by Myanmar Press Council and its efforts to eliminate the fake news and fabrications.
The Chairman of National Press Council of Thailand Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee said he honoured and welcomed the Chairman of Myanmar Press Council who will take the rotational chairmanship of Southeast Asia and National Press Council of Thailland will provide necessary supports and want to cooperate more in the media sector of Myanmar.
- During the meeting, measures to develop the media and press sector of both countries, to protect the publishers and journalists who follow the media ethnics, to enhance the information exchange between the media and press personnel of both countries and the betterment of media freedom were discussed.
- The Chairman of National Press Council of Thailand Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee said he honoured and welcomed the Chairman of Myanmar Press Council who will take the rotational chairmanship of Southeast Asia and National Press Council of Thailland will provide necessary supports and want to cooperate more in the media sector of Myanmar.
