Illegal Timber, Fruits, Vehicles and Consumer Goods Seized

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, measures are being taken to eradicate the illegal trade as per the rules and regulations.

  • On 18 January, Anti-Drug Enforcement Division in Kawkareik district of Kayin state checked the vehicles that were going to Hpa-an by bypassing the Kawkareik (Tatarkyo) checkpoint and two vehicles carrying illegal fruits (estimated value of K34,217,500) were seized.
  • On 18 January, illegal varieties of consumer goods along with one vehicle worth K8,760,000 (estimated) were seized at the 16th Miles (Kyaukchaw) checkpoint located in Mandalay region.
  • On 19 January, under the management of Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force of Sagaing region, the combined team seized one unlicensed “Honda Insight” car worth K6 million in Shwebo township and confiscated five tons of teak worth K750,000 million in Mawlaik township, totaling K6.75 million.
  • On 19 January, under the management of Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force of Bago region, a combined task force seized 20.167 tons of illegal varieties of wood worth K3,909,680 (estimated)  in forest reserves of Bago, Taungoo and Tharyawady districts Bago region.
  • On 18 to 19 January, the amount of seizures from nine cases was a total of estimated K53,637,180.  

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee stated that it continue legal proceedings as per the rules and regulations of customs regarding the seizures.
